First House Inspection is 28 minutes late

Do you rent or own your home?

If you own your home, you have the wonderful advantages of being able to put a nail in a wall to hang a new piece of artwork, or you can paint the walls any crazy colour you like, you can buy that special piece of furniture for ‘that’ corner and more.

When you rent, you either ask permission of the landlord or you go with out.

You also have your world turned slightly upside down when the owners decide to sell.

As you know, our home (albeit our rented home) has just been put on the market and suddenly there’s a heavy cloud over our immediate future.

Our home is usually neat and tidy. There’s only 3 of us, G’s at work and MissM’s at school so there’s not that much time at home to make it untidy. Plus I’m a nutter for putting things back where they go, leaving a room neat and tidy for the next person etc.

However neat and tidy it is for us, when total strangers are coming in to inspect the house, I feel they are also judging us, how we live and our things so I’m running around like a lunatic, fluffing cushions, removing papers from the kitchen bench, even hiding the fruit bowl with bananas that are ready to be made into banana cake before the inspection time.

They are now running 28  minutes late …………

I guess if it was our house we were selling it would be frustrating too but for different reasons.

Yes, a lease is a lease and the owners are free to do what they wish however, we have a long term lease, so it will be very interesting to see what transpires.

For now, do I sabotage any hope they have of selling but making the place a complete and utter mess, play really obnoxious music and change the atmosphere? Or do I play lovely classical music or soft jazz, burn lovely smelling candles and make sure the Ikebana is fresh?

Keep you posted on how the inspection goes, meanwhile I’ve candles to light, music to play and cushions to fluff,

With friendship
x
